Yahoo SiteBuilder
My favourite programme, by a long way is a really great package from Yahoo called
SiteBuilder. Simply download the software, sign up with one of the Yahoo webhosting
plans and within a few minutes you can be up and running.
What you need to get started:
A domain name (a unique name for your website)
A webhost (someone who will store your website and serve it to viewers on the Internet
A website design and building software program
Technical support - someone to turn to when you just don't know what to do next!
Yahoo has all of this and everything is completely automated and backed up for you,
so you don't even have to worry about losing your website if your computer fails.
Yahoo comes complete with hundreds of ready made templates that you can use in
their entirety, change as you please or steal parts from in order to create your own.
To add text to your page - right click and insert a text box. Change the size, shape
and position by dragging it around with the mouse pointer. Easy!
To add photos or images to your site - right
click and 'insert image' selecting the image
from a file on your computer or use one of
the hundreds of images and clipart provided
by Yahoo. Once again, change the size and
position of the picture using the mouse. Simple!
There is no limit as to the number of pages you can produce or host with Yahoo and
as you become more proficient and knowledgeable you can add lots more interesting
features and software including a pre-loaded phpBB forum that can be attached to
your site.
Adding Google adsense to the page is simple. Just right click the mouse and add
'HTML Code Elements'. A little box will appear into which you copy the small amount
of code provided in your Google adsense account. Simply drag this little box to the
spot you want the ads to appear and stretch it to the appropriate size.
You can easily add full shopping cart facilities to your new website, downloadable files
and paypal buttons as well as password protected areas.
